Over the past few years, Johnny Depp has not had the best press coverage. The legal dispute garnered international attention.
It started when Depp sued Heard for defamation, alleging that he had done so for $50 million.
It was about the opinion piece Heard wrote on her experience as a victim of domestic abuse for the Washington Post in March 2019.
Even though Depp prevailed in the defamation lawsuit, the same jury judged him accountable for remarks made earlier by his attorney, Adam Waldman. He called Heard’s assertions a “hoax.”
Heard received a $2 million award from the same jury, and she has avoided the spotlight for the past two years.
While she filed an appeal in December 2022, she settled the case out of court, saying, “I have made no admission. This is not an act of concession. There are no restrictions or gags with respect to my voice moving forward.”
She did not take part in the press tour for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which she starred in in 2023.
Depp also took some time off from the spotlight before attending the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, where he received a standing ovation from the crowd for his movie Jeanne Du Barry, which lasted seven minutes.
Additionally, he was purportedly romantically involved with attorney Joelle Rich. Rich acted as his attorney in the Heard-related U.K. libel case. However, the relationship was never verified.
A source close to Heard revealed that she is doing well. The source said, “She is focused on motherhood and her daughter. She is happy and feels comfortable in Spain. She is glad to be settled and is moving forward with her life. She doesn’t want to deal with any drama surrounding Johnny or the trial anymore.”
And for Depp, the same source says he’s doing great. They added that he feels atonement and is “very happy to move on with his life.” He recognizes and is appreciative of his real fans. He is putting his profession and career first.
